The Carter is the latest luxury apartment complex built in Houston’s Museum District – you’ve probably seen it towering over 59 while stuck in traffic. This tall dark and handsome high-rise comes from the same developers as “The James” in River Oaks, and share similar characteristics. However, being full concrete construction and much larger – The Carter is in another league.

Extravagant lobby and lounge.

The property has ultra luxurious commons areas. They went all out with the space and decor. However the other amenities like the gym and the pool were underwhelming for a property of this size. Especially at the price tag they are asking. Maybe their thoughts are that most people already have a gym membership and don’t need the an over-sized pool and community gym.

The interiors of the apartment homes at The Carter are beautiful and have some very useful features. The model unit is the same floor-plan as the one used at “The James”, it was the first thing I noticed as the kitchen island is unforgettable (one of the largest I’ve seen in a Houston apartment home).

Stunning kitchen.

The features I mentioned are handy things to have like deep drawers for your pots and pans, built in storage shelves, and re-arrangeable shelving systems in the closets.

Deep country kitchen sinks.

The finishes are absolutely class A. Engineered wood floors (meaning the top layer of the plank is real wood), granite counter tops, brand new appliances, standing glass showers, etc. The interiors are beautiful.

I love the kitchens.

Their location is excellent. The Carter is close to fine dining, museums, Rice University, Houston’s medical center, and has easy access to 59.  Being located inside the 610 loop is a blessing.

The Carter is a beautiful property with a premier price range. The brooding “Chicago” style building is a bold addition to the Museum District’s luxury apartment market. It looks like “The Museum Tower“, located just blocks away, has some competition.
