City View Lofts is one of the most unique apartment complexes downtown Houston has to offer. Originally built in 1910 as Nabisco’s southwest regional offices and baking facility, this loft style apartment complex (consisting of only 57 units) has held on to many of it’s vintage finishes. The exposed concrete, brick, eleven foot ceilings, and original hardwood floors make these warehouse-style lofts stand out from other rentals in the area. Additionally there’s a non profit art studio for mentally disabled youth built inside the property, making this complex very special to Houston.

The finishes at City View Lofts are stunning. Being one of the loftier properties in Houston, this vintage complex has an extremely raw and industrial feel to it. Everything, from the amenities to the finishes, has the cool “New York style” loft look. Lofts are my favorite apartment style and I was extremely excited to tour this complex. The high ceilings make very room feel large and the exposed materials give the apartment homes a very cool and urban atmosphere.

Kitchen finishes city view lofts

Lovely kitchen finishes.

The interiors have a mix of loft-style and class A finishes. The kitchens are well equipped with granite counter-tops, wood cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances. The rest of the home sports hardwood floors, exposed brick, air-ducts, and cement ceilings. Their kitchens have a slightly older look, but that works well for the unit as it does not overwhelm the apartments muted color pallet.

The amenities at City View Lofts reinforce the properties loft style vibe. After taking the vintage elevator down to the properties basement (which has experienced no flooding said the leasing agent, and showed no signs of it.) there were many great features for residents to use. With only 57 units on property, they had as many community amenities as some properties do with over 200 units. They have a wine cellar, communal kitchen, theater room, well equipped gym, lounge, and game room. In addition to these amenities, they have a one of a kind art studio that caters to youth with mental health disabilities…

Alvin Roy's art studio

Alvin Roy’s studio. He runs a non profit that helps young people with disabilities such as Autism and Down Syndrom

One of the most unique things about this property is the fact that Royal Grafix Fine Art Studio is ran out of this building. I met with founder and artist Alvin Roy and his son Ezra Roy (“the poster boy for the project”, says Alvin) and talked about the art and what they do. Operational since 2010, Alvin started 1 – On – 1 art Inc., a non-profit Incorporated to provide quality art training to youth and young adults with various disabilities including Autism and Down’s Syndrome. More info on them here.

City View Lofts  is located in downtown Houston and is walking distance to Minute Maid Park with unrestricted views of out city’s skyline. The easy access to major Highways is another great feature about this property.

Here is our video tour of the property!

City View Lofts is a stunning loft style apartment complex in Houston’s downtown area.  I really enjoyed my tour there and I’m sure other loft lovers will love it as well. If you’re looking for a downtown rental that is a little out of the ordinary, I highly recommend you check them out.

City View Lofts Studio

This is more of a “huge studio” that they classify as a 1 bedroom.

One last look at these interiors!
