Nan’s Games and Comics TOO

This hidden gem is perched in the crossroads between Montrose and Rice. As the name suggests, half of the store is dedicated to comics and graphic novels, and the other half to table top games. In addition to their main products, they sell action figures, puzzles, and other novelties.

They have family classics like monopoly, but they cater more to the serious board game enthusiast crowd by holding rare titles like Twilight Struggle and Agricola. You’ll also find Meeples, dice, and other replacement parts.

The comics include popular titles from DC and Marvefal Comics, graphic novels, and smaller comic franchises from indie publishers.

3rd Planet

I used to go here a lot to shop for toys and comic books when I was younger! This place has an amazing selection of action figures, from affordable to expensive import figures. I don’t collect toys these days, but I recommend Third Planet for anyone looking to get into comics and if you need to find a gift for a geek friend or family member!

Video Game Bars

For those looking to get a little boozy with their game night, Houston has a couple of options to play games while you drink with an emphasis on all things retro.

Kung Fu Saloon on Washington takes me back to the days of eating pizza and playing skeeball with my friends, but it’s even better. Because it has 24 beers on tap and it let’s me bask in the nostalgia! They also have retro games like Mrs. Pacman and private karaoke rooms.

Neil’s Bahr in East Downtown has a greater emphasis on fandom in all things TV, video games and comics. Walls littered with Pokémon, Dr. Who, Simpsons and more, visitors can browse the comic library or play retro video games while enjoying the full bar!

Asgard Games

Competitive gamers, RPG lovers, and tabletop game connoisseurs know that Asgard in Montrose is the place to go to meet up with fellow aficionados. They carry a good selection of board games, but their main focus is hosting all sorts of game nights. They have tables strewn throughout the shop and cater to gamers of all backgrounds.
